WOW!!! Made the perfect choice when we booked Pepe for our tour. He is smart, easy to speak with and filled with historical knowledge of every place we toured. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Pepe and HIGHLY recommend him for a magical time in Segovia.

Pepe picked me up at my hotel, and our journey began the moment we walked out the door. Yes modern day Madrid has quite a history. Each street, park, building had a story to be told and Pepe was a wealth of knowledge. Hearing his voice and the way he told the history was almost like traveling back in time to the events that unfolded in each destination along our journey. I am a huge history buff and Pepe was very descriptive when helping me imagine the events that took place at this very spot. Amazing Guide. Loved! Loved! Would highly recommend. We stopped for drinks and lunch. He was a pleasure to spend the day with guiding me through the present day city with all the knowledge of the past.

The knowledge that Pepe has about the history of Toledo is mind boggling!!  From the moment he picked us up in his beautiful (clean) car he never stopped explaining the history of the Jews in this area of Spain. He knows sooooo much. Great facts, great stories all in an easy to understand beautifully accented and perfect English. Pepe was interesting, animated and had tons of passion for the subject matter which we really appreciated. Don’t miss this tour!!!

Family of 6 with young adult children had the pleasure of joining Pepe for a food and wine tour in Madrid. It was perfect. Pepe put together an amazing experience with 5 different stops. He is so knowledgeable about the local food and wine and a wonderful conversationalist. We enjoyed every minute and cannot recommend this experience enough.

I was in Europe for a month and Pepe was the best tour guide we had. He is beyond knowledgeable and can answer any historical questions with ease and passion.
We did two tours.
The Madrid highlights walking tour, all over the city was a perfect way to get to know Madrid. There were little breaks to sit down which I really appreciate as a tour I had in Seville was non-stop standing/walking in 107 heat - it was hard to retain the information. This was the complete opposite. Pepe was well thought out and planned for shade and sitting while showing us a tablet to have a visual view as well. Everything was digestible and explained in a way I was able to retain the information.
He also used humor and had amazing energy.
The next tour we did was Toledo. A beautiful medieval city outside of Spain.
Again, very well thought out. He would park the car and was considerate, even had ice waters at the end of the day. Everything was well thought out and planned.
He gave restaurant recommendations and went above and beyond the scope of the tour.
I learned more about Jewish history in these two days than I ever have before.
He's not calling it. He speaks with passion and pride.

Pepe is an exceptional tour guide. He was professional, prompt, and courteous. His knowledge and history of Toledo was far greater than your typical tour guide. His ability to explain and tell the story of the Jewish people and their journey throughout history, specifically as it relates to Toledo was thorough and unique. He also explains the history of other religions as it relates to that period. No matter what your religious affiliation, everyone visiting Madrid should visit Toledo with Pepe.

Pepe made our trip! He took us on a full-day Jewish tour of Toledo filled with history and amazing sites. We started calling him Mr. Google because of his wealth of knowledge. His enthusiasm was perfect for our family of four (teenagers) who was recommended to us by a friend and we will definitely recommend him as well!

In mid-May of this year (2024), my family and I took a guided tour of the city of Segovia in Spain, which was one of the most memorable days of our vacation.
Pepe Alonso was our superstar guide on this excursion.
Pepe picked us up early in the morning in the center of Madrid in a spacious and comfortable car for 8 people and we headed straight to Segovia. The approximately one-hour tour seemed super short with Pepe's narration: a bit of history, trivia, current events, interesting facts and a good dose of good humor.
Segovia is a wonderful little city - declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO - that can be easily explored on foot. The highlights include the impressive Segovia Aqueduct, one of the best preserved Roman aqueducts, the majestic Alcazar of Segovia, one of the most famous medieval castles in the world, the Segovia Cathedral, known as 'The Lady of Cathedrals' for its size and elegance, the Plaza Mayor, the Jewish Quarter, the incredible panoramic views, the cobbled streets with their shops, cafes and terraces. All this and more, but the magic and pleasure of this experience was definitely having Pepe as a guide. Pepe is an encyclopedia of knowledge, stories, curious facts, palace intrigues, royal weddings, etc. A delightful and very entertaining history course. My advice is: Go visit Segovia but with a guide. Otherwise you miss out on all the wonderful content of its history. And if you go with a guide, go with Pepe. #1. Top. 100%.

Pepe was an excellent guide who made my two days with him, one in Segovia and one in Toledo, very special.
From the moment he picked me up in Madrid to dropping me off again, exhausted but happy, everything about the day was interesting (and well organized!). Pepe has a wealth of knowledge and his enthusiasm in imparting it made it fun and educational.

Pepe picked us up on time and delivered a great tour of Segovia! He told us a lot of the history on the way so we would get the most out of our visit. We had the opportunity for lots of pictures, and we asked many questions, he answered all of them! We toured the castle. (Amazing) Walked all through downtown and learned about the aqueduct system. We found out a lot of interesting facts and the true origins of many things we did not realize . He took us to a nice local restaurant that had been there for 130 years ( we tried the suckling pig that they are famous for ) and then we returned to Madrid. We had a wonderful afternoon touring Madrid  with Pepe. The ride was a great combination of sites and history. Our stop at the Tapas bar was a real treat. Pepe also gave us recommendations for dinners which were not touristy and a wonderful experience. We would definitely tour with Pepe again.

After Pepe took us on a tour of Madrid earlier in the day -- we took a much needed jet lagged break and then met back up for this Tapas and wine tour. We LOVED this. The food and drinks were amazing and Pepe knew just where to take us. The final stop in an old bomb shelter turned wine cellar to restaurant was a must see.

What a perfect day spent with Pepe on the Jewish Toledo tour! With an unexpected injury I was moving along a bit slowly, but Pepe was patient and over-accommodating such as dropping us off at a cafe and then he parked the car and ran back to meet us for the touring since I couldn't make that walk. Aside from learning about the architecture and history of Toledo, the Jewish history component was wonderful, including a special stop in a former home of Jew, a shop that makes filigree by hand and lunch.

Must see tour. Unexpected history. I would be sorry if we had not seen this very historical town. Short 1.5 hour drive. Pepe is probably the best and most knowledgeable TBL guide we have ever had. Pepe took us to a 125 year old family owned restaurant (Casa Duque) in Segovia that was 5 Star excellence for lunch. Great food, great wine.

We were very happy with our Madrid tour, provided by Pepe. His vehicle was clean and in good order, providing us air conditioned comfort on a very warm August day. Pepe Alonso's tour of Madrid was a fascinating journey through the city's literary and historical landmarks. We had a lovely, but long, day with Pepe tasting wine in the Ribera de Duero area. We very much enjoyed the wineries visited. Pepe nicely complimented the young and pleasant winery guides, who were excellent. All the wines were enjoyable. We liked learning the differences between how the two large wineries made their wine and discussing the styles of wine with Pepe and the local guides. We enjoyed seeing the bottling process at one of the wineries. All in all, a very enjoyable day.

We loved this tour!! Pepe took us throughout the city and is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to Madrid and Spain's history. It was a hot day, so we rented electronic bikes. This was a game changer!! Madrid has more hills than you realize and the electric bikes made everything easier. Because we rented those bikes we were able to see everything we set out to see and weren't short on time. Plus since it was hot out, the electric bikes were helpful so we didn't overheat.

We wish there was an option to give Pepe more than 5 stars. This is our first day on our first ever trip to Madrid. We couldn't have booked a better tour or a better guide. What a great tour to start our journey in Spain.  Pepe was a fabulous guide who introduced us to the real Madrid from a local viewpoint. 6 stars!

Pepe shared an amazing walking tour of Madrid with us. My family of four (2 adults and 2 teens) concluded the tour saying it was our best tour to date (which is saying a lot as all of our Tours By Locals have been outstanding). Not only is he an excellent tour guide, he is also a PADI dive master and a sommelier, truly an interesting man born, raised and still living in Madrid. Highly recommend.

If you like wine at all and have an extra day in Madrid then this tour is a no-brainer. Pepe is a sommelier and very passionate about wine, and you'll have him all to yourself in the car! Ask him all you ever wanted to know about wine but were afraid to ask. Ribera del Duero is beautiful and its winemakers are gracious . . . and the wine is delicious! This day was a highlight of our week in Spain and now we can order (and thoroughly enjoy) Spanish red wine at home with confidence!

Thoroughly enjoyed our bike tour of Madrid with Pepe. He is very knowledgable and full of enthusiasm for his subject. His English is excellent. The trip was fun and lively. I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to get an overview of the city. We are 3 women in our 50's and found the cycling easy/medium. The city is busy however so will be fine for someone used to cycling in traffic but not if you are nervous on a bike. Pepe is excellent at making sure you stay safe however so you are in good hands

Pepe is a wonderful, very informed guide. His knowledge of the history is so interesting and you can see he loves his city. The best part was being taken to the restaurant with the best Spanish Tortilla I have ever had!

Pepe was a great tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and shared a large amount of history in an enjoyable way. He selected a lovely restaurant for lunch, then was kind and helpful in ensuring my son with serious allergies could eat there safely. Great tour and guide. We were able to see a lot of sites, customized to our interests, with interesting information and perspective. We covered a surprising amount of ground, and were able to prepare for which places to explore further.

Pepe was everything one could want in a tour guide. We chose him based on the recommendation of one of the 3 couples in our group who had iused him in a previous tour of Madrid. We were not disappointed and found that Pepe was engaging, very pleasant and organized yet flexible. He has extensive knowledge of Madrid that he eagerly shared with us. Pepe met us at the airport. We were late due to a late arrival by the airline. Pepe took us on a walking tour of Madrid, got to know what we were interested in seeing and fully explained the surroundings and history. Pepe saved the day for me! I was in transit and was looking forward to explore Lisbon in half of the day. When my plane was delayed, I realized I won't have much time left and looked for a possibility of a private tour. Contacted Pepe as I've liked the tour description while standing in line for boarding! Got a response right away and from that point on everything was amazing! Pepe customized the tour, picked me up at the airport, showed me as much as possible till 11:30pm and I shared interesting facts!
